Salish Kootenai College athletics offers men’s and women’s basketball. We are the Bison, and our colors are Maroon and Gold. Our teams are composed of students who have an interest in playing competitive basketball past high school. SKC does not offer athletic scholarships but the college has information on numerous scholarships students can apply for. Contact the Career Center for scholarship assistance. For the 2011-2012 season the teams will travel to Montana, Utah, Colorado, Idaho and Washington for games. Ending the season, the teams will travel to the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) national tribal college championships. Location to be determined at a later date. At SKC, we draw on both education and athletics as a means of preparing our students for both work and life. Prospective student-athletes will find the classes motivating, the campus environment welcoming, and the surrounding area sociable. In December of 2007 SKC opened the new Joe McDonald Health and Athletic Center, which is the home of the Bison. It seats over 2500 people and is used not only for basketball but various campus and community events throughout the year.
